Come come, whoever you are
Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving
It doesn’t matter
Ours is not a caravan of despair.

A diverse career and an adventurous spirit have taken Elaine Harvey to remote regions of the world. She has lived on five continents and worked on four. Working as a nurse in a Cambodian refugee camp eventually led to writing her first book: Encounters on the Front Line.
Elaine’s second memoir, A Time of Light and Shadow: Crisis Work & Solo Travels in Asia & Africa, explores the quests of a young woman, working in dire environments, chasing adventure, and seeking connection. In India, half a lifetime later, she reflects on longing, belonging, and finding her home in the world. Elaine presently lives in Victoria on the west coast of Canada.
