Come come, whoever you are
Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving
It doesn’t matter
Ours is not a caravan of despair.
A diverse career and an adventurous spirit have taken Elaine Harvey to remote regions of the world. She has lived on five continents and worked on four. Working as a nurse in a Cambodian refugee camp eventually led to writing her first book: Encounters on the Front Line.
In her second memoir, Company of Strangers; To Asia, Africa, and the Long Way Home, Elaine explores the life of a solo traveler and her reflections four decades later as she ventures back to India. Company of Strangers is her rite of passage from wandering far away to finding home. Elaine currently lives in Victoria on the west coast of Canada.
